(just broadcast this email out on the wire. out of sheer laziness, I’m just gonna stick it up here, instead of working up a different post…)

Just a quick update: I’ve made it home to Michigan safe and sound.

I had a fantastic winter at Stevens Pass in Washington. At the end of the season, I walked away with a lot of great experiences, a few new skills, bills paid off and about $1000 in the bank, all of which I’m very proud of.

I plan to be in Michigan all through the summer, aside from a few sidetrips to Florida, Ohio, Chicago, Indianapolis, & Lafayette [phew!]. If you haven’t heard through the grapevine already: a couple weeks ago I was officially accepted to Western Washington University. I’ll be heading back to Bellingham after Labor Day to finish studying towards a Bachelor’s. (only, what, 4 years later than your typical college junior? Oh well; those young punks won’t know what hit ‘em… *grin*)

In the short term, I’ll probably be bouncing back and forth between my mother’s place in Metamora and my grandfather’s house in Clarkston. Email is still the most reliable way to get in touch with me: mwkelley@gmail.com

A close second would be to call my new and very dependable cellphone (thanks Dad): 248-820-9989

Also, a reminder that if you’re ever curious about my general whereabouts or what I’ve been up to, I have at website at [http://beyondmetamora.net] . I update it with a short blurb about once a month, and my most current mailing address can always be found on the “Meta” page ([http://beyondmetamora.net/meta]). Pictures from my latest roadtrip will appear in the Photos section… er, I dunno. “Soonish”.
:)

super-quick location update: I’m at the Glacier County Library in Cut Bank, Montana. Threw a salute to the statue of [John Stevens] at the Great Divide, now it’s the long flat drive through northern plains. Back in MI Sundayish, maybe.

Went to the Apple Blossum Festival today in Wenatchee, but it mostly made me lonely.

When I got to the public park outside the library there was a red-headed woman on stage playing folk songs and dulcimer. Local people milling around among festival booths, munching snow cones. Kids climbing on the civil war cannon. Neighborhood folks sitting around on apple crates with friends. I didn’t stay very long.

It all reminded me powerfully of Midwest county fairs and harvest festivals back in Metamora and made me anxious to be back home sharing life with my own friends and family. The last few weeks have been mostly boring, but now I only have a week to go.

Only 4 more working days until I’m free for the summer…
