35 days

by mwkelley

(yah, so there was no Day 36. As I’ve [said before], Fridays are kind of hard for me right now.)

Closing in on a month to go until lift-off. I spent the day fussing around, moving stuff here and there, getting organized.

All of my stray papers and notebooks have been carefully sifted; now they’re all together, ready to go.

My CDs are mostly together. I have about 20 discs that still need to be ripped. Sent an email to Chris this morning to find out the status of the [NoDice server], which has been borkified lately (possibly by me).

The books are sorted. Actually, I keep adding more and more to the “Ebay it” pile. I came here with two full 50 lb boxes of books. I’ll probably leave with an unprecedented half dozen or so.

The dishes and pans are next. Between donations from aunts and uncles I ended up with about 10 complete place-settings of dishes and probably 30 sets of mismatched silverware, way more than one single guy actually needs. I guess its sorta nice to not have to wash dishes for two weeks at a stretch, but that’s a big pile of flatware to have to drag around. I’ll probably cut it down to about 4 sets, though I’ve no idea what I’ll do with the extras. Toss ‘em up on [CraigsList], probably. Or frisbee ‘em off a butte. (["The dishes are done, dude"])

The furniture’s another problem. I may actually be able to flat-pack this desk IKEA-stylie, but my yardsale couch and coffee table, and the white elephant wardrobe the Sobelmans gave me, are going to have to find a new home. Wish I could stash the wardrobe somewhere, because it’s really quite nifty, but it’s too big to even transport on my own. Plus I won’t even have anything to transport it in by the end of the summer.

The Ebaying begins in earnest tomorrow. I’ll let you know when I start putting stuff up. I also think I’ll go see [X3] tomorrow, though I’ve been hearing some rumblings that it kinda sucks. I’m not sure how this could possibly be, given the general radness of the first two, but we’ll see.
