Uncollecting.

By today’s standards I travel pretty light, but when I look at my stuff I still see clutter and distractions everywhere. So this week I’m learning to say two beautiful words: Ebay it.

What doesn’t sell, I’ll be giving away. What nobody wants, I’ll be throwing away.

After all, I’m the one that’s gotta [carry that weight].

you know, some people manage to exist without karmic degradation, and more then one car’s worth ‘o stuff, Yan.

“A monk asked Tozen when he was weighing some flax: ‘What is Buddha?’ Tozen replied, ‘This flax weighs three pounds.’”

It’s not karma, dude, it’s practicality. Heck, it’s basic physics. The more you’ve got, the harder it is to move it. Ergo, my car got lousy gas mileage driving out here, because it was 300 pounds heavier than usual. Traveling lighter = traveling cheaper = more more money to buy stuff later.
